I seem to be missing about half of my comment notification emails recently (in the past couple of days or so). Strange. I played around a little with my email script recently, but I doubt that's the problem.

*has an idea* *checks spamtrap* Hm... doesn't look like it. Bummer. I wonder what's wrong.

Edit: At the moment, I'm inclined to point my finger at the vanity (sub)domain which handles my email... I just got a support notification, 18 hours late, and the handoff is inside that domain:

Received: from mail by ficus.frogspace.net with spam-scanned (Exim 3.36 #5) id 1AfNOI-0004jW-00 for my LiveJournal email address; Sat, 10 Jan 2004 09:59:21 -0800
Received: from [66.150.15.150] (helo=livejournal.com) by ficus.frogspace.net with esmtp (Exim 3.36 #5) id 1Af6Mn-0005kp-00 for my LiveJournal email address; Fri, 09 Jan 2004 15:48:37 -0800
Received: from localhost.localdomain (livejournal.com [66.150.15.150]) by livejournal.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5B62438549; Fri, 9 Jan 2004 15:48:43 -0800 (PST)

Observe that the mail server (ficus) accepted the email on Friday at 15:48 but it didn't make it through the spam scanner until Saturday at 09:59. (And only then could my email delivery script sort out where to direct it.) WTF?

My gut feeling is that you're only getting emails for replies that are dirctly to your post or one of your replies.

I'll reply to this - tell me if you get one notification or two...

If my theory is correct... you wont get a notification for this one.

I didn't get a notification for that one.

On the other hand, in a community posting I made, there was a thread of three messages A - B - C; A was a reply to my entry, B to A, and C to B. I got notifications for A and C, but not B.

So it's apparently not quite what you thought.

*is still puzzled*

Oh wait, I just did get a comment notification for this one. But only in one place of the two I checked, even though my LiveJournal email gets sent to both. (Well, three places, but the third is at work and I can't check that now.)

Never mind... even the second one got through to the other place eventually (it went through another forwarder which hung on to it for half an hour).

I'm currently blaiming my vanity domain mail server's spam scanner; see the edit entry. *grumble*

Bizarrely, though not at all related, the ISP I use for my personal email (which is not the one I use for LJ) has started rejecting all the emails [livejournal.com profile] mmaestro sends me, or else sending them several days late. I'm about to email them and complain.

Note how it arrives before it was sent!:p (Arrival time is 15:48:37 -0800, Departure time: 15:48:43 -0800) - that's pretty darned clever.

Maybe your email providor is under some form of DoS attack that's slowing everything down?
