Amy's German

I'm always amused when Amy's German (her stronger language) is influenced by her English :)

Most recent example: she told Stella that "Ich möchte neben zu dich sitzen!", which seems to me to be a calque on "next to you" (that is, the "zu" in the German, which is extraneous there; the "dich" is because she doesn't make the dative-accusative distinction yet).

In related news, it's interesting how different children deal with "difficult" words in different ways; the other day, Amy wanted Erik to eat some (generic) Fruit Loops; she pronounced them "foop-oops" while he called them "loop-loops".
