St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Also known as the day when a bunch of Americans with not a drop of Irish blood in them dress up in green and get drunk on Guinness... or something like that :)

Thank you (http://www.livejournal.com/community/google_art/17389.html)!

That logo doesn't appear when I go to google.com, so thanks even more for the poke, as I wouldn't have seen it even if I had gone to Google this morning.

google.ca, too.

I am but one of millions of Canajans with Irish ancestry. My grandfather's grandfather was orphaned in the potato famine and adopted out to Scotland.

But only on google.ca in English, not in French.

Amen.

I don't. I think it's stupid for me to make a political and religious statement about a country I know almost nothing about and for a religion I don't believe in. I hate the tradition of stating it just as "dress in green" when there are different colors for the different religions.

Same here. Even in elementary school, I always carefully avoided green on St. Patrick's Day. I'm not Catholic, why would I celebrate St.Patrick's Day?

I did sometimes wear orange just to piss people off, even though I'm not Protestant either. I'm a little more mature now. :-)

Ever hear this song (I heard it mostly by the Irish Rovers, but I'm sure others sang it, too)?

If it ain't the biggest mixup, that you have ever seen,
Me father, he was Orange, and me mother, she was Green.

I have quite a few drops of Irish blood, and I don't get drunk... But I do wear green. In my family, not wearing green means you get pinched. =)
