MIT Weblog Survey

(meme-ish, via [livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl)

Take the MIT Weblog Survey

(Opera 7 users need not apply, unfortunately.)

But...

"Supported Browsers

This survey requires the use of Javascript which does not work on older or less popular browsers. To participate, you must have one of the following browsers:

* Microsoft IE 5.5+ (Windows)
* Netscape 7.0+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Mozilla 1.0+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Mozilla Firefox 0.6+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Safari 1.2.1+ (Mac)
* Opera 7.6+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)"

(emphasis added)

Opera does seem supported.

When I go to http://blogsurvey.media.mit.edu/request, I get redirected to http://blogsurvey.media.mit.edu/browser and told:

"It appears that you are using an outdated or unsupported browswer. In order to participate in the MIT Weblog Survey, you'll need to upgrade to one of the following:

* Microsoft IE 5.5+ (Windows)
* Netscape 7.0+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Mozilla 1.0+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Mozilla Firefox 0.6+ (Windows, Mac, Linux)
* Safari 1.2.1+ (Mac)

Opera

There have been a number of inquiries about the status of Opera support. In theory, the functionality of the survey should be supported by any version of Opera beyond 8.0. However, after over 6 hours of testing and debugging, for the life of me I can't get a working version. While I continue to figure this problem out, I apologize for the inconvenience, but I have to ask you to please use one of the other supported browsers. Thanks again, and sorry."

But I "only" have Opera 7.54.

Still, strange that they say "> 8.0, in theory" in one place and ">= 7.6" in another.

Hmm, I see. I personally don't use Opera, so I haven't tested it myself...I just saw that #about section :)

That page seems wrong anyway, because it says > 8.0, yet doesn't support 8.01 (I presume he meant that he hopes >= 8.1 will work, but he doesn't know because obviously it's not out yet!).
