10 years

Today was my ten-year anniversary at work!

I would totally have forgotten about that, had it not been publicly announced.

A co-worker in HR was leaving the company, and because of this and because of her recent birthday, she had prepared lunch for the company. Before that started, the department head gave her a big bouquet of flowers and a card and a present, for her birthday and because she was leaving; after that, he said he had another card and bouquet and present, and said they were for me.

So now I have some flowers standing on a vase on my desk, the Terry Pratchett book Strata (in English, yay! Apparently, "an early exploration of the idea that was to become the bestselling Discworld series"), and an Amazon.de gift certificate for a substantial sum (I was impressed).

Ten years! That's pretty amazing for IT positions =D

I've never worked anywhere else! So if I did try to start somewhere else, I'd have to learn some new skills (résumé-building, interviewing, ...) just to get the job :)

Though one could say that I've worked in four companies so far, but that was just because the company changes names (and in a couple of more cases, hands).

Strata is a good book! It's a little rough around the edges in places, but I really enjoyed it!:)

Congrats on the job too!
