Battle for Wesnoth

I've started playing Battle for Wesnoth a little. Seems fun so far.

Will see whether I can gain some experience and hold my own on a level higher than "easy" :) Apparently, "medium" is supposed to be challenging-but-not-difficult, i.e. more rewarding without requiring five years' experience.

I really like the turn-based nature, since I've always found real-time strategy games too fast for me.

i have that on my computer. i don't remember a medium. i remember a tutorial, which i coped with okay, and then everything else being impossibly hard. i was playing against the computer. but it's been a while since i attempted it.

Did you play the scenarios or in multiplayer mode? I think it's just the scenarios which have difficulty levels (the only one I've started so far had three).

But then, I've only played the first two encounters(?) of one scenario, so I don't know how hard it gets after that.

Or should that be "the first two scenarios of one campaign". I don't quite remember the terms.

I nearly completed the first campaign on medium, but I had a really hard time finding the stupid wand or whatever it is on the last level. It was randomly placed amongst a ridiculous number of enemy forces, which were all too much for me to handle. And I felt really stupid on the one occasion when I wasted all my time exploring the darkness in the wrong direction only to find out, right before losing, that the thing was just out of sight in the other direction.
What was even more frustrating was that when I came back to do this campaign over again, I found it to be even harder on easy. Maybe I was just away too long.
