Is it a Wintel box, or is it a Mac?

[livejournal.com profile] subbes posted a screenshot of her desktop in her journal just now.

My first reaction was envy, after having seen Perl geeks with iBooks or PowerBooks at recent YAPC::Europes... but then I saw a couple of things which didn't quite fit. First, the task bar at the bottom (or is it called "dock" in OS X?) wasn't wide enough, and second, there was a display showing space free on "C:" and "E:", which seemed unlikely... then I read the post.

Looks pretty well done, by the little I've seen of Aqua so far, but it did confuse me quit a bit at first!

(As someone else pointed out, "that's wrong!")

Haha - most amusing. OSX is quite nice in some respects, but the thing about Macs that annoy me is the mouse! It only has one button!!! I like my tri-buttoned mouse!

I like having home and end keys that do what they're supposed to.

I can't say I've ever used a mac long enough to notice what home and end do - top and bottom of a document, I guess?

You'd expect them to move the cursor to the home/end of a line or the document.

They don't do either -- either they have no net result, or you end up looking at the end of your document but your cursor is still where it was.

Yikes! That's scary... but then these features are used by the same people that are happy with one mouse button;)

Macs are too crazy for me, but I have to use it for work, so I just pull up a hillion-jillion Terminal windows and work with it like a Linux box whenever I can =D
