What is actually the purpose of this? I'm assuming it's how your friends related to each other, but it's far too complicated to make any sense for the most part!
Something like that, I suppose. I don't think I ever saw a clear explanation.
The impression I get is that people who know one another tend to be close to one another, and tend to have the same colour, too. And people who have more mutual friends tend to be in bigger size.
The yellow-green cloud at the right is the "London/Perl" people; the purple ones at the bottom the "LiveJournal support" ones.
As you can see, I have a fair number of friends who don't know one another -- lots of small-font names with few connecting lines down the left and up at the top.
