Ella Enchanted is a hoot. IIRC, the kids were just watching it again on TV last night or the night before, but we also own it on DVD.
Also the Princess Diaries and there was a new one that she wanted to use to break her image as a cute princessy type. The promo posters had her with too much eyeliner or something.
My sister has the book Ella Enchanted, which I thought was way better than the movie. They had to Hollywoodize a lot of it, of course, diluting some of the characters and making things annoying.
Speaking of fairy tales, I really enjoyed Enchanted (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461770/). I had to suspend some disbelief about the the portrayal of NYC life, but overall it had a nice balance of cheesiness and not.

AH is very delicious looking, but totally lacking any brain or personality (eg acting skills) which is a shame because then she would really be amazing.
