I opened my email this morning to find a message from the LiveJournal Friends monitor.

Hm, friended by [livejournal.com profile] sparkofcreation… never heard of him/her. Ignore them. Scroll down… ack! [livejournal.com profile] jerzeegrrl unfriended me! What did I do to her? *ponder*

Wait one. Maybe she just changed her name.

Fortunately, LJFM emails are helpful in that they include interests and community memberships of people who have friended you.

*glances briefly over interests* hm, español… interpretación judicial… ah, that's probably [livejournal.com profile] jerzeegrrl then. (Looking at the community memberships probably would have been faster in this case, actually, but interests come first in the email.) *phew*

Sometimes I wish people wouldn't change their usernames; it always tends to confuse me :)

(Although people changing their default userpic after having kept one for a long time can also be a bit challenging sometimes. I think I just like having things stay the same. Fortunately, Stella doesn't constantly rearrange the living room furniture the way I've heard some other women do.)

I've had that problem a few times!

I guess I'm one of those people who is always changing their usericon! I like this one, though, but then I've liked all the others too:p

Well, people who are always changing their default usericon (or who tend to use lots of keyworded usericons on posts and comments) aren't that bad, because you tend to get used to not seeing a specific icon tied to their name.

I get confused every time you don't use the little duck-whose-name-I-forget, too.

I'd been thinking about changing, which you know, but a new user called "jerzeeegrrrl" or something had popped up on a community I read and ... made me desire strongly to not be in any way associated with her. So, here I am.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets confused ;) I do tend to use Martin a whole lot, though, and don't plan on changing my default pic for the foreseeable future.

I'll adjust to your new name. (Yes, after I realised it was you, I remembered you had been planning on getting a new name.)

(Incidentally, in LJ support, it seemed for quite a while to be an unspoken rule that when someone changes their name, their new username is more similar to their real name than their previous one; not so with your name change. Just something I noticed.)
