Yesterday was a ball organised by the church in as part of the sesquicentennial celebrations -- 150 years of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany and of a ward in Hamburg. It was a lot of fun!

New spectacles
Saturday, 16 November 2002 10:36Stella picked up my new spectacles yesterday. Well, only one lens is new; since the other lens still matched my eyesight, I only had the right lens replaced and kept the frame and the left lens.
I also got the lens slightly tinted and "entspiegelt" (coated to reduce reflections) to match the other lens; that was all I paid for, my health insurance picking up the rest. "Brille - Fielmann" :)
It looks really weird through the glasses, though. Especially the view through my right eye looks weird. Maybe I should start wearing them continuously for a while to get used to them. If I understood the optician correctly, it'd be a good idea for me to wear the glasses all the time anyway, since that's the correction my eyes need now... have to see about that.

English breakfast
Saturday, 16 November 2002 13:34This morning, Stella cooked breakfast for me on the occasion of my birthday.
Bacon, scrambled egg with chives, fried mushrooms (though not of the type I call "English mushrooms" -- the ones that leave black marks on the plate) and fried tomatoes, accompanied by toast with butter and marmelade. Oh, my.
That made me happy :)
This morning, we went shopping. She bought me a new strap for my wristwatch since the old one had fallen to pieces, also for my birthday. We also inquired after a mattress cover for my allergy.
While we were shopping, we met Harald and Anika. Anika greeted us with a hug, as she usually does. That made he happy, too ;) I like being able to hug girls I like. And I'm glad they and we are such good friends. We'll be seeing them again tonight for my birthday party.
