The distance between two points on a sphere was a question I asked in one of my first posts to Usenet.

Now, while looking through the Wikipedia main page, I saw a link to the haversine formula, which is used for this, among other things.

That page has a link to a couple of useful links as well: What is the best way to calculate the distance between 2 points? and Longitude and Latitude Calculations.

There are quite a few puns in the vocabulary of the Klingon language; ore of them I just think I figured out while I was making some flashcards.

I'm fairly sure that the word QeD "scientist" comes from Q.E.D., the abbreviation for quod erat demonstrandum "which was to be demonstrated", used e.g. in mathematical proofs.
