This morning, the bed that we had bought on eBay arrived, together with lots of accessories covered in lovely fabric with little cute ducks. I'll have to put up a picture; they're really adorable. Stella was totally excited and has been having fun assembling the bed.

From [livejournal.com profile] eilanhp come this meme:

Have you ever had the feeling that as your friends-list grows bigger, you think of people on your friends-list in terms of groups, even if they maybe don't know each other? Look through your friends-list and list these groups and maybe a short explanation of why you connect these people.

I thought about it and there aren't really that many groups on my friends list—there are quite a few "isolated" people where I know them but they don't know any of my other friends, or only a couple.

By far the biggest group of users on my friends list is support people (including "other" journals such as [livejournal.com profile] isalang and [livejournal.com profile] unfleeced and ex-support people)—over a third (45 out of 124).

Next biggest is the group I call "London.pm": people I know directly or indirectly through London.pm. Into this group I'd put [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres, [livejournal.com profile] blech_, [livejournal.com profile] davorg, [livejournal.com profile] frobisher, [livejournal.com profile] marnameow, [livejournal.com profile] nassus, [livejournal.com profile] noidd, [livejournal.com profile] nou, [livejournal.com profile] nou_cooks, [livejournal.com profile] nwc10, [livejournal.com profile] pdcawley, [livejournal.com profile] sphyg, [livejournal.com profile] uon, [livejournal.com profile] weatherpixie. [livejournal.com profile] karen2205 arguably also fits in here, but I think I added her because I knew her through support and only later found out that she knows people from this group.

Then there's the "Zompist" group: [livejournal.com profile] bicoherent, [livejournal.com profile] komsip, [livejournal.com profile] lordofbair, [livejournal.com profile] pauraque, [livejournal.com profile] sedesdraconis, [livejournal.com profile] so_haleza_grise, [livejournal.com profile] whimemsz, [livejournal.com profile] zompist.

The "Leipzig" group: [livejournal.com profile] insel, [livejournal.com profile] n_true, [livejournal.com profile] suomi_fani, [livejournal.com profile] youki, [livejournal.com profile] scotsswing. I got to know these through [livejournal.com profile] n_true, whom I got to know through [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles.

Some others I got to know through [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles: [livejournal.com profile] caoin, [livejournal.com profile] fenix_en_llamas, [livejournal.com profile] sparkofcreation, [livejournal.com profile] timwi. (I'd count [livejournal.com profile] timwi as a linguaphiler rather than a support person, at least based on when and why I added him.)

There are also some users I know through certain languages, such as Klingon ([livejournal.com profile] jiqel, [livejournal.com profile] jiqon, [livejournal.com profile] qurgh, [livejournal.com profile] weqqul, [livejournal.com profile] yemqoyad), Latin ([livejournal.com profile] beluosus, [livejournal.com profile] jdm314), or Lojban ([livejournal.com profile] jezrax, [livejournal.com profile] thedward).

But after that, it gets really hard to form groups, and I'd say most of the people don't know one another.

Very vaguely, they might be put into the categories "programming", "people I met in other communities/in others' journals", and "interesting people I found".

These also tend to have the most interesting reasons for coming across them, ranging from "Being emailed by someone I know from elsewhere where I once freaked her out because she thought I was stalking her" over "Found through the magic interests search as being 'most compatible with me' before the feature was turned off" and "met through a code sharing community" and "Saw recommended as a good journal to read" to "they friended me seemingly out of the blue and I friended them back".

This list contains about 30 people, and I think only five or so of them know anyone else on my friends list ([livejournal.com profile] being_homeless and [livejournal.com profile] robnorth/[livejournal.com profile] oilf know [livejournal.com profile] jessical, [livejournal.com profile] haela and [livejournal.com profile] subbes know one another, [livejournal.com profile] nik_w knows [livejournal.com profile] jessdev [actually [livejournal.com profile] jojobear99] and [livejournal.com profile] emmavescence; oh, and the [livejournal.com profile] bride seems to know [livejournal.com profile] timwi as well).

Here are some of the pictures of the little ducklings on baby's bedclothes:

Here be pics! )

Aren't they simply adorable? I especially like the one with the reflection in the puddle! Pity that one's a bit out of focus.
