We're trying to teach Amy to say "please" and "thank you".

She already knows how to respond to "Wie heißt das Zauberwort?"/"What's the magic word?" ("Peas!"). And recently, she's even sometimes said "Thank you" without prompting after she's received something. (And that work changed pronunciation from "Damn" to something more closely approaching the proper pronunciation. I'm sure that telling someone "damn" after they did you a favour will have amused some people visiting us....)

She hasn't quite caught on to using "bitte"/"please" of her own accord when making a request, though I think she's understood the concept in principle. I occasionally model the sentence for her ("Open Amy's curtains, please").
