Back from holiday

I was away on holiday for the last two weeks. (First near Frankfurt, then camping by the Elbe River.) There are a few pictures up on Flickr if you’re interested.

I doubt I’ll be able to catch up with my reading list, so if there’s anything important you’d like me to see, please point me to it.

In the parking lot of Friedrichsdorf railway station, I saw a car advertising Germany’s “biggest and most exclusive FKK club”. (I presume “FKK” has the usual meaning, referring to naturism/no-clothes activities.)

And it made me wonder how any organisation could simultaneously be “biggest” and “most exclusive”—surely, the more people you exclude, the smaller you are?

I expect they were using it in the transferred meaning of “high-quality”, but still… the more people you admit, the harder it is to maintain/enforce such a quality standard. Which is why high-quality places tend to be (literally) exclusive in the first place.
