Tickybox!

I’ve been pining for a “post links to your own polls here” community here on Dreamwidth since I really enjoyed tickybox and polling_place over on LiveJournal, but I hadn’t found anything comparable here.

There was tickybox, but there, polls were only posted by the maintainers, and they were typically fandom-oriented, rather than the eclectic mix you’d get from an open community.

But now, there’s polls! I saw it announced in dw_community_promo.

So go forth and join and post links to interesting polls!

Heatballs!

In Germany, it’s been forbidden to sell classical lightbulbs with more than 75 watts; instead, you’re supposed to buy more energy-efficient fluorescent devices.

However, apparently some people are selling Heatballs®… devices which fit into the same screw fittings as lightbulbs but which are (ostensibly) intended as heating devices.

And they’re very efficient at that! They convert about 95% of the electrical energy into heat, which would put them into the energy efficiency class “A”. (Some amount of light is produced as a by-product….)
