mirror.ac.uk going away?

Just got an announcement by email to the MIRROR-USERS mailing list (see the web archive) that seemed to imply that the UK Mirror service (mirror.ac.uk) will be going away due to discontinued funding.

If that is true, it would be a pity; that site mirrored a large number of other sites.

There may be a new mirroring service, but who can say what it'll look like.
