Basically, it uses letters that are 180° rotations of other letters to spell a sentence upside-down -- some letters are in the Latin alphabet (e.g. "u" and "n" are rotations, as are "p" and "d") while others are used by linguists to represent certain sounds, and were therefore included in Unicode.
