The Onion on Wikipedia
Sunday, 13 August 2006 06:57I don't know enough about Wikipedia culture to recognise all the stabs, jabs, and references, but a fair bit of it made me laugh—such as talking about certain edits that some users make (which are, in theory and sometimes in practice, quickly reverted); the article quotes Wikipedia as saying, "Little did such founding fathers as George Washington, George Jefferson, and ***ERIC IS A FAG*** know that their small, querulous republic would later become the most powerful and prosperous nation in history, the Unified States Of America." Or mentioning "other important historical events from the same day" including "the 1998 birth of Smokey, a calico cat belonging to Mark and Becky Rousch of Erie, PA," a reference to the propensity of certain users to include material which other users consider "not encyclopædic".
