This morning, Amy crawled over to me in the bed. "Wake up, Daddy! Wake up!" She pulled my chin and nudged my face. "Come into my room and play with me! But be quiet—Mummy is still sleeping!"
...which is what I would have been doing had she not woken me up.
(It later turned out that Stella had been taking care of Amy since half-past seven, while I was sleeping, so she certainly deserved a bit of a rest.)
Thanks to my ear plugs, I fell asleep fairly quickly last night and only woke up briefly at midnight, when the fireworks outside got more intense, but I was only half-awake and fell asleep again before Stella even came to bed, half an hour later.
