Urk - keyboard broken!

Looks like my keyboard is shot. The left Ctrl key sometimes sticks and the </>, Y, and X keys don't work (so I'm "typing" this on my PDA).

I have two more keyboards in the cellar, but one doesn't have Windows keys (it came with my old 486) and the other is really grotty. Oh, and both have a DIN plug rather than a PS/2 one, so they won't even fit.

Maybe I'll have to buy a new keyboard, or at least an adapter... or see whether they have a spare one at work or something.

Eep. Have you tried washing it? I occasionally disassemble my keyboard, lever off all they keycaps, and give all the non-electronic bits a good scrub in the sink, which usually stops sticking problems. I know people who recommend putting keyboards in the dishwasher, too.

The keyboard I'm typing on has had several operations on the membrane to keep working. Soldering to membranes is *fun*.

Hmm... maybe I'll have to try that (the bit with the sink—dishwasher's broken).

At the rate things are looking, I'll need a new keyboard otherwise anyway. And I just found out I can't get one from work "or they'd all want one" (or something like that).
