Morphological analysis and Amy
Saturday, 15 March 2008 11:02German has similar structures in "Ich möchte ein Brot" and "Ich möchte singen"; Amy has taken "I want to sing" and, apparently, analysed it as "I (want to) sing" rather than "I want (to sing)", since she will say things such as "I want to a bread".
(And also "I want to on your shoulders", also by analogy with German, which lets you omit a verb in cases such as "I have to [go] to the toilet" or "I want [to go] onto your shoulders".)
