Friends page layout changed?

pneBizarre... subjects of entries (if present) appear to be links to the entries.
I can't remember that this used to be the case in the past... and I'm using a custom (S1) friends page style, so I wonder why that would have changed.
(Unless they changed the meaning of whatever %%variable%% I stuck into the template at that point, to include HTML for a link?)
