When we were shopping the other day, I saw some packets of mix for "milk noodles" (noodles in a kind of vanilla sauce) and thought, wow, I haven't had those since I was a kid. So I bought a packet.

Today, I had it for dinner, and oh, was it delicious. And it made me think of the term comfort food, which I had only learned not that long ago: it truly was comfort food. It tasted yummy and made me feel warm and safe and snug inside, and it reminded me of my childhood. Great stuff.

About the only gripe I had was that the noodles inside were not "the right kind"; when I was a child, I remember the dish prepared with elbow maccaroni or similar small, round noodles; these were flat ones. Perhaps better suited for "instant" cooking, or perhaps what the person who prepared the mix was familiar with, but not what I was accustomed to.

I wonder whether I can find a recipe for "milk noodles" that will taste like what I had as a child. Ireen, do you have one?
