pne.nu gets NS service from ns[12].frogspace.net (where the web site is hosted) and ns[12].granitecanyon.com (where I had parked the domain until I decided where to host it).

At the moment, ns1.granitecanyon.com is saying authoritatively, "pne.nu doesn't exist", while ns2.granitecanyon.com is simply not responding. Much suckage ensues.

/me considers deleting granitecanyon.com from the list of registered DNS servers for pne.nu, even if this means spending money to NuNames ($5 or whatever it is they want).

Grr.

Edit: $10... bloodsuckers. At least some of it goes to my favourite Pacific island.

Edit 2: Done. (And changed the IP address for ns1.frogspace.net, while I was at it; I see that it has changed. Also removed my fax number since I haven't bothered installing the fax software since I reinstalled Windows.)

Secondary.org does free secondary DNS. (I can't vouch for their reliability, but hey, its free).

Oh, and if you register your domain via (or transfer to) gandi.net (only €12/year) they will do secondary (and primary if need be) DNS for you.

Interesting. But I doubt they do .nu domains :)

I may keep it in mind for future domains, though... I've been going with Joker.com so far, mostly because while they also cost €12 a year, they're in Germany. (I think the cost was also a bit lower since French VAT rate was more, or something, so the end price to me as a European consumer was higher with gandi.)

I used BackupDNS for a while but then cancelled them... I think it's not really worth having another DNS host because if DigitalSpace is down, chances are, the website could be unreachable, too.

Have to think about all this.
