Dead deer

This morning as I was walking to work from the bus stop, I saw a dead deer lying by the wayside. It looked pretty small; I can imagine it was still young.

I suppose it had come running out of the forest on the other side of the main road and was hit by a car, and the driver took it off the road and laid it at the edge of the pavement.

It was a slightly gut-wrenching experience.

Ack - that's not nice:( I've seen things like that a few times while in the car though never close-up, thankfully.

I've always found it odd that some of the LJ mood icon sets (including the default one) have "shocked" as a happy face. Sure, you can have a pleasant shock, but you'd more often refer to that as surprised. I actually changed the mood set on mine a bit ago because of that!
