"That works out to a little over $2/month for the year plan. That'll hardly break your pocketbook. The most annoying part will likely be pulling out your wallet, finding your credit card, and typing in your information."
Looking at their Account Creation page (http://www.ujournal.org/create.bml), it seems that one year used to be $18.75 (and a permanent account $75). I suppose they changed that to $10 for a year and $50 for a perm account and didn't bother updating the Create Account page or the six-month price.
That works out to a little over $2/month for the year plan
That seems to be pulled verbatim from LiveJournal, which costs $25 for a year, or $2.08 for a month. Even their old price was only $1.56 a month (and the new one, only $0.83 a month).
The Account Creation page also has broken old-style BML code ("(=H1 ... H1=)") ... not very impressive. (Perhaps they synched the new BML code from LJ but didn't update their BML pages.)
*nods* i think they probably just had a code upgrade and are suffering the consequences of it. things go haywire on DJ when code upgrads happen too. it's fun. we get 3 times as many requests. and last time all the volunteers had real life come up on that day. so it was just me and the screenies. heh.
we should be getting one soon. your "lack of green" frustrations will be replaced with "good god when will the requests about [whatever broke] stop coming in?"
I love it! Someone will buy it! Like on Amazon, people pay £80 for a £20 book from a 3rd party reseller then complain that they were "ripped off" because "there was nothing special about it"! If they are stupid enough to buy it, then I have no sympathy!
hello. i just clicked on "find random user" and it gave me you. splendid. i have been reading the pages of your intriguing journal. what a gripping life you do lead :)
Feel free to browse my journal or friend it; most of it is public. However, please don't be disappointed if I don't add you back; I have a hard enough time as it is keeping up with the friends on my list. (And, as I said, you're not missing much if I don't.)
Or perhaps "to commemorate uJournal's one year of offering paid accounts, [they] are giving supporters of uJournal the opportunity to purchase paid accounts at greatly discounted prices for the month of June" (http://www.ujournal.org/community/news/15940.html)?
