My parcel with English food has arrived! Yay!

All wrapped very carefully.

So now I have some English cereal and some English Christmas goodies, as well as miscellaneous other stuff that’s difficult to get in Germany.

We, on the other hand, have Aldi and Lidl and thus a good supply of German foods. (Some branches of Lidl now include a bakery. With real bread at non-eyewatering prices. (The other day I passed on a 500g £3,50 loaf. I don't think any bread can be _that_ tasty.))

When Lidl first came to the UK, they had mostly German lines, then they went through a frantic scramble of finding things that people wanted to buy locally, and how they've managed to get a good balance. And in the last few years we've had a lot of infllux of polish groceries in the mainstream (all major supermarkets stock at least some things) so there's been a shift in UK shopping as a whole.

They're both very populat shops - often situated fairly central, good grocery selection, cheap.

I just never can get used to the pronounciation /Liddl/ :-)
