Babelfish translation:

I was about straight to write a READ ME file f?r a script which we develop f?r a customer. The following sentence occurred: A disadvantage is that column names and types will not?bernommen automatically in Excel; thus e.g. the columns are treated ' BAUGRU_PLATZ ' and ' ENTRANCE ' gladly as numbers, if they consist only of numbers; f?hrende zeros are lost thereby. With the text "I must somehow always think f?hrende zeros" of the government:P

Now I know why Mark Twain called it "That Awful German Language" !!

Kind of close but probably even harder to understand than the original since half of the words aren't translated :D

Here's my attempt:

I was in the middle of writing a README file for a script which we are developing for a customer. In this file, I wrote:

One disadvantage is that column names and types aren't imported automatically into Excel; for example, the columns 'BAUGRU_PLATZ' and 'EINGANG' are often treated as numbers if a record contains only digits. Leading zeroes get lost in this process.

Whenever I read the phrase "leading zeroes", I have to think of the government :P

Does that make more sense? :D
