If we answered no, he'd say, indignantly, "What, you're not a Proper Living Person?"
So the next time, we might answer yes to the question and he'd say "Oh good, you're a Public Leaning Post!" and proceed to rest his weight on our shoulder.
I suppose the only correct answer is "mu" (http://jargon.net/jargonfile/m/mu.html).
But pssst! Don't tell anyone :) I want to see what they answer :P
