Ick. I forgot my glasses at home which I usually wear when I'm on the computer at work.

Fortunately, I can still see without them, only not as well. And I'm kind of used to using them at work (though at home I sometimes wear them and often not), so it'll seem weird.

[laughs] I've never been able to understand people who sometimes wear their glasses and sometimes don't (unless they're reading glasses). I think it's because I can only see about three inches in front of my face without them. The only wan I can (and do) forget my glasses is if I'm already wearing my contacts. (Well, I also have very weak computer/reading glasses that I often forget, but those are more for the glare than to imptove my vision.)

I used to wear them only at vocational training school (since I couldn't make out what the teacher projected onto the board otherwise from my seat in the last row) or when driving (for safety).

But for some reason, I've taken to wearing them at work nearly every day for quite a while. Partly because the optician said that I'm also astigmatic on one eye, so it's not just a matter of being slightly nearsighted as I was diagnosed as when I first got them. Even so, they're only -0.75 on one eye and +0.5 on the other (with slight astigmatism on the the second one as well).

Wow. Mine are -8.25 in the right eye and -7.75 in the left (my contacts are -8.00 and -7.50 respectively, since they don't make them at quarter-steps past -6.00, only half-steps). I have a moderate astigmatism in the right eye and a severe one in the left, but since I also just plain don't see out of that eye (I have amblyopia, lazy eye, which means that although the eye works, the brain doesn't process correctly the information from it) they don't bother correcting it. For years I've worn thicker contact lenses to mask the astigmatism in the right eye, but I think I may have to bite the bullet and get toric lenses (which are specifically for astigmatism, and more than twice as expensive) for that eye this year.
