On the ninth day of February, the proxy says to me:

First reaction: "Whatchu talkin' about, Willis?"

Second reaction: "Rats."

At work, we have a web proxy which we have to use to access the Internet. Since it's a company proxy, they decided to include content filtering as well to block objectionable sites (e.g. "not safe for work" ones).

However, sometimes the criteria they use to determine what's objectionable seem a bit... awkward to me.

For example, a while back, Google Images (http://images.google.com/) was blocked as "Sex". Which kind of makes sense, since you can find sexual images there, but it's still difficult if I want to use it to find legitimate images.

And now they've blocked DeadJournal for providing "Extreme" content... again, there are probably extreme views in some of the journals, but blocking the whole service because of that? Seems a bit overkill to me.

On the other hand, I haven't got a legitimate work need for that site, so I can't really complain against them. (Though if they blocked the main Google search, that would interfere with work.)

Because of the "About Me :: Your Thoughts" meme I ganked from you - which you can't see since you're not in my "memes" filter since you opted out of it at http://www.livejournal.com/users/pne/2000/01/01/.

Ohhh! That's why I couldn't see it!

Do you post many memes? Coz you could add me to that filter if you don't! (Meaning the "What/Which .... are you?" ones).

"What XYZ are you?" quizzes

Historically, I haven't posted many, no. Probably about three or four in the time I've had my journal.

But if I do, they'd go in the filter - it's a meme and a quiz filter.

Though I suppose a fair number of quizzes are memes, too. Bah, I don't know.

Anyway, I'll add you :) You can always be taken off later if you want.

I ph33r the xtr3m3 DeadJournal.

(Can you imagine how much fun it is answering support requests in Lynx? Especially when you can't set your default site scheme to 'lynx' so you have to scroll past pages of navigation to get to the data?)

Well, you (the site) aren't that bad.

As for individual users... well, I'm sure you can find some pretty weird people on /random.bml.

But that's the same everywhere you've got thousands of users: there'll be weirdos.
