Well, not really... it does end in Move [...] over to LiveJournal, but that's not meant in a good way. It's mostly bashing people setting up their own MT blog and thinking that their words of wisdom are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Have a look at the article anyway: http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2004/2/2/171117/8823.

I read that article, and rolled my eyes. How is James A C Joyce's own diary, full of insults and poor structure on trivial, overdiscussed topics, any better or more important than the hundreds or thousands of people with MT blogs who drone on about trivial, overdiscussed topics? One hopes, at least, that he sees the irony in writing such an article in his own blog/journal/diary/buzzword-of-the-month.

(He also seems to be fueled by jealousy that his own barely-coherent rantings aren't ranked as high as bloggers' fascination with the Janet Jackson controversy recently: "On Blogdex, my insightful news item is currently listed #6. Janet Jackson's tit is at #4.

This just reinforces my belief that Movable Type users should not be allowed to breed.")

I think reading that made me consider that having a LiveJournal may be the better path to take.

Some people I know have LiveJournals, some have their own blogs.

But in general, I don't consider this an outlet for "unbiassed opinions" or "third-party publishing" or whatever. I feel that here, I can dump whatever I want into my journal. Those who want to read it, can, and those who don't don't have to.

One wonders what he'll think of LJ when TrackBack is implemented. :P

(I would have respected him far more vastly if he had intelligently discussed how Google should improve its situation of being swamped with "noise", instead of insulting everyone who uses MT just because they don't write the kind of content he's interested in.)
