List of Live CDs (where you can run Linux from CD without having to install it on your hard drive first).

Stop, stop, you'll only encourage me;-) and I'm *not* installing Linux until I have a new computer, and I'm not buying a new computer until my current one really breaks/is at least five years old.

See, here's the good bit: you don't need to install them because they run straight from CD!

To borrow a comparison I saw in the Slashdot article, it's like the good old days of self-contained cartridges. Store volatile data on a USB key or something; all the rest runs from CD or RAM disk. Problems? Just reboot!

No virusses getting into system files etc. No repartitioning your hard drive or deleting your previous operating system.

G'wan, download one and give it a try!

But I don't have a CD writer, so I've no way to download it to CD.
