Actually, although this is slightly amusing, the person producing the co.uk site looks a complete jerk to me - if you look at his links I detect the hallmark of the whinging centre right computer programmer. Precisely the sort of person, in fact, that if the site were originally .co.uk would be whinging 'oh, don't they know there's a gov.uk domain for that sort of thing'.
Either there are multiple domains below .uk or there aren't, and these days frankly everyone finds a website by typing some keywords into Google ( I have absolutely no statistics to back this wild assertion up).
