I am not going to ask you three questions, or seven questions, or turn to page twenty-six of whatever book is exactly eight feet away from me. Neither am I going to ask you to ask me questions, or answer questions, or quote from a book, or be interviewed, or automatically generate a post.
Instead, I am going to not hit the "post" button until I have some actual content [or a rant about not having any actual content], rather than brain-destroying fluff that masquerades as "thought provoking" but really is just an easy way to avoid actually doing any work.
Nobody wants to interview you. Nobody cares. This is the Internet. Memes are boring. I am in a profoundly bad mood because every time I see the "new posts" icon flash, my spirits rise and I think "Oooh, something interesting!" but instead it's just that sodding "ask me three questions hurrr hurrr hurrr" crap and it's old and tired and cut it out.
(I bet this will get the flames rolling in. But really now, surely there are more interesting things to put in the "update" box than text you copied and pasted from another person, who copied and pasted it from another person, who copied and pasted from.... etc.)

Stella's been having a blast planning... especially the furniture, since our study will need to become the nursery, so the computer is going into the bedroom, which means we had to chuck out our three wardrobes in order to make space for a new wardrobe and a new desk (which together just fit along the wall, with about two inches left over).

Date: Friday, 16 April 2004 11:57 (UTC)We've recently been doing some similar rearranging of stuff in our house; we moved the computer to be in a very small room that also houses the digital piano, which required the purchase of shelves to put everything on, and a new flat-panel monitor so the whole thing would actually fit in the new space. So now the old study has had the ceiling repaired, and is mostly finished being repainted; once that's done, we'll be able to move on and repair the ceiling in the small room next to that one. It's all part of a fairly large-scale effort to make more rational use of the space in our house -- we also recently moved the master bedroom into a smaller room, with the idea of turning the old master bedroom into a dressing room/office. Only without the computer, since we moved the computer elsewhere after we made the original plan!
Rationalizing our clothes storage and other random bedroom storage (suitcases, camping equipment, etc.) is going to be the next real challenge.

Date: Sunday, 18 April 2004 11:23 (UTC)Well... I suppose, in a way it is. Though I rather doubt
But it is a meme in the sense that it's an idea that reproduced, even if that wasn't the original goal.
