Maybe I'm bad at reading charts, but aren't the arrows pointing the wrong way? Or maybe I'm just reading it backwards. (It makes mose sense to me to start with the oldest ones and go forward, rather than the newest ones going backward...)

*nods* I was confused at first, too.

I guess it's some kind of weird object-oriented inheritance convention (in some schools of design) to point arrows from derived class to base.

It looks a lot like UML (http://www.uml.org/), where a filled-in arrow indicates a superclass (base class).

Yes, except that that makes about as much sense as top-quoting, given that most people experience time from past to future and not the other way around.
