Yearly employee performance review. Wish me luck.

Went fairly well, I suppose. I'm glad my immediate superior is Andreas since he's fairly good to get along with.

Pity there's no more money in it for me but that was clear from the start: new policy is that each superior gets a pool of money he can distribute among his employees as he sees fit, and this year's pool is €0, so the salary part of the review was short and uncontroversial.

So I didn't get my head chewed off and I think I present myself moderately well. (I'm bad at "selling" myself, I think, and saying what I thought I did best at and stuff like that.)

I totally hate these sort of reviews. In my experience they are generally more harmful than useful. Good management communicates with you on an ongoing and interactive basis. I'd really rather hear if I do something wrong *at the time* rather than have it all saved up for once a month/six monthly or yearly. I'd also rather hear positive feedback at the time it's appropriate for.
