We've only got TV for, what, a week now? And already it seems that Stella spends most of the day in front of the screen, or at least with it running in the background.

Makes you wonder how she managed before. Certainly didn't take long for her to get used to it.

:-) I find that I can't pay attention to anything else if the TV is on, so I'm definitely NOT one of those people who can leave it on "in the background".

I'm the opposite. I can't pay attention to the tv if I'm sat in front of the computer. I'll be sat in front of the computer with the tv on in the background (and actually try to watch it), then I'll look up seemingly a few seconds later in time for the credits. I have to turn everything else off to watch tv :)

my worry would be what she's addicted to rather than tv in general.
Tip #1: Give Home & Away a miss.
Tip #2: Reality TV is bad for the soul.

oh my god.
Do NOT tell me you watch that!

Has that happened already there? My sister mentioned that last week or so.. that's only just happened here.. how can you have it so quickly??

(they've decided to torture us further by creating a spinoff that's gonna start later in the year.. of all the teenagers going to uni in sippy creek-- oh yay!*)

*in case you didn't notice. that's my sarcastic voice..

*laughs out loud - literally*

No, I don't watch it.

I didn't even have any idea what it was, though I assumed it was a soap opera of some description, of which each country has its fair share.

So since I didn't know what it was, I googled for "Home & Away" and the first hit was

So since I didn't know what it was, I googled for "Home & Away" and the first hit was <a http://homeandaway.com.au/, which has this on its front page:

This Week

Baby Pippa has arrived! How will Sally, Flynn and Leah cope? Find out about new motherhood and much more in Home & Away this week.

which I lightly adapted for my response.

Has that happened already there? My sister mentioned that last week or so.. that's only just happened here.. how can you have it so quickly??

I don't think they even have it here—and I'd be surprised if they did. This seems to be an Australian thing, and Germany has enough of its own soap operas (such as GZSZ or "Good Times, Bad Times", which tells the story of a bunch of teenagers) without having to import any from abroad. And when they do, it's typically from the States rather than Australia or even the UK.

lol
Actually there are a lot of countries that do get it. The US and the UK for starters (it's been in the uk for many years, and apparently the US has started in the last few years and was showing it 3 times a day or something to catch up.. a worry).

yeah, ya got me. But if it ever does make it to your tv.. you can give it a miss :)

Hubby's also one of those people who need the TV running all the time. And because most of the time nothing interesting is playing, he keeps zapping through all the fourty something channels on his search for something good.

Ah well, I'm good with shutting out noises, so I can ignore the TV. :o)
