There's an… um… meeting-place? not sure what they're called… of the "Deutsche Unitarier" (German Unitarians) about 100 yards from the Latter-day Saint Hamburg stake centre (stake = group of wards/congregations, about 11 in our case, I believe).

I find it vaguely interesting that there are two non-Catholic, non-Protestant church buildings in such close proximity to one another, especially because one of them is not just a ward meeting house but also the stake centre for Hamburg Stake.

(The Unitarian place is not a purpose-built building, though; it's one of a group of terraced houses.)

Actually we're not sure what to call them either—usually we refer to the congregation or the society, but that's more a reference to the people, not the building. Um. You can probably call it a church. Our church is called "The Unitarian Society, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation" (and yes, I realize just how stupid that sounds) and so we'll say that something is happening "at the Society" but I don't know if you could use that in general. Or if something were happening at another congregation, I'd say it was happening "at Princeton" or "at Somerset Hills" or "at All Souls" (the really big, famous UU church in New York).

stake = group of wards/congregations

Thank you for explaining that! I keep coming across the term in my projects, and have been confused.

I keep forgetting you're Mormon, I could have asked you a lot earlier. The only other Mormon I know is an obnoxious little twit who won't respect that theentire world does not want to convert to his faith (and is therefore useless when it comes to getting information, unless one has the patience to be proselytized at. Which, as you well know, I don't.)
