Hm. I thought it would have been the other way around. Left handed people were seen as evil/demons in old times (thinking through my Latin routes here). They were also seen as foolish and unlucky if I remember rightly

Yep... left = dark energy (thus interpreted as evil). Also, not just in Latin, but left = feminine.

Yep. To clarify, the Latin word for "left", sinistra, is the root of the English word sinister "of ill omen, ill-boding, evil-seeming". Also, the French word for "left", gauche, in English means "boorish and tactless"; and French mal à droit "bad with the right" has become English maladroit "clumsy, incapable".

Same... but really, I wonder, after all the things I have done in life that most Christians would consider sins, I have to say, it's nice to get off the hook having been left-handed from birth.
