I'm giving up reading fanfiction. I want to spend more time with my family, because I feel like I'm not doing my share to connect to other people. I want to get my homework done ahead of time (I realize I shouldn't want to, as my grades essentially don't count anymore; if I pass, I graduate and go to college...but I have come to the conclusion that I feel much worse--guilt-ridden, stressed-out, etc.--if I don't do my homework and work very hard at my studies). I also want to get outside more, and to generally be more involved with my life. But I tried to give up the internet completely once, and I don't think it can really be done. It's too integral to my life. (Ooooh, integrals...hee.)

I tried to give up the internet completely once, and I don't think it can really be done. It's too integral to my life.

Hm. I occasionally contemplate giving up email, the way Donald Knuth did, since I'm annoyed at the amount of spam I receive. But I'm not sure whether I could pull it off, either; it's just too useful.

Though I suppose for many things, good old snail-mail would also work, even if it's slower.
