The IOCCC wouldn't be the same without it.

I did look rather quizzical the first time I encountered that sort of thing. (And I suspect that TPTB would look askance if I did that sort of thing here at work.)

It mainly sticks in my mind because of the comp.lang.c FAQ entry mentioning that its only use is in the IOCCC.
