I knew that Finnish makes distinctions in both consonant and vowel lengths, and that you might have, for example, a long vowel followed by a long/doubled consonant (as opposed to, say, English or German, where a "double" consonant, though pronounced like a single one, marks a short vowel in the preceding syllable).

Recently, I was pointed to a page which shows a minimal octuplet between long/short vowel, long/short consonant, long/short vowel. Impressive!

*giggle* The tulen/tuulen/tuullen/tuulleen sequence, played in that order, sounds like a recording being gradually slowed down. :)
