Amy now knows how to open cupboards at floor level and has amused herself by playing with my diskettes and with the pots and pans in the kitchen.

*sigh* soon, nothing will be safe.

I was apparently never an inquisitive-cupboard-investigator type, but one of my sisters was. She was content with the plastic jugs of water that my mom left sitting around for that purpose though.

I know one two-year-old who loves to press the power button on his parents' computer. Make sure she doesn't get into that habit!

But how? Won't saying "no" and moving her away just make that activity more interesting?

We're already annoyed that she likes to play with a pair of mice hanging above our bed that we got for our wedding and keep having to say "no".

Unfortunately we have made the experience, that things that should not be touched either have to be put out of reach or must be guarded carefully. Trying to teach the children to stay away from those things at that age just leads to frustration on both sides.

So with those things that cannot be locked away or stored on a very high shelf one has to keep an eye on the child(ren) when they are in the vicinity, and pick them up and distract them if they come too close.

Can be very annoying, but eventually they grow out of it.

No cabinet exploration yet, but ripping the newpaper off of the couch and tearing it to shreds, we've gotten. Also, anytime I'm eating, William smacks his lips at me wanting me to share.

And like a softie I give in a lot. (this is how come William likes bread, popsicles, and vanilla ice cream... the cheesecake is my grandmother's fault)

Tell Stella to put all of her makeup way up on the highest shelf you have.

Mine wasn't even safe in a box in a higher cupboard, and I ended up with lipstick art on the carpet.
