I had always wondered why the Hamburg radio station Energy Hamburg (formerly "Energy 97.1") had a logo with the letters "NRJ"... "NRG" I would have understood, but "NRJ"? Was this logo created by someone who had no real grasp of the English pronunciations of the letters of the alphabet?
Apparently, the catch was that the letters aren't supposed to be read in English but rather in French, which gives NRJ = énergie, since NRJ (Nouvelle Radio Jeunesse) is a French group.

(I didn't come across that particular four-letter word until fairly late in life, so it doesn't even have much emotional impact for me since I never heard it used as a swear-word; I just know intellectually that it's offensive for many people.)
