I used to think that Calvin was rather ridiculous for always wanting to be read to out of Hamster Hughie and the Gooey Kablooie… but Amy has a similar book: Miffy.

It's her #1 favourite book, and I think that there's quite a gap between that and whatever #2 might be. She occasionally brings us other books to read to her out of, but Miffy is more frequent than any other single book, and she gets a lot more unhappy if you take that book out of her hands than any other. (It's not as robust as some others she has and I don't want her holding it unsupervised just yet.)

I've seen this with lots of kids... dunno if I know of any kids who don't do this. One tape they always want to watch, one book they always want to hear... you just have to hope they fixate on something that isn't too horrible for the adults.
