[livejournal.com profile] goodboi mentioned a site by the government of Montréal "[ki] s'adrês o pêrsone ki on dê z’inkapasité intélêktuêl"; they have three versions of some pages, including text with simpler vocabulary and grammar, the same in a simplified orthography (what I linked to), and a spoken version, in an effort to reach those who have difficulty with language (spoken and/or written) for some reason.

First I've come across such as simplified spelling used for serious purposes; interesting. (Or should I say, "trê z'intéresan"?)

Interesting, creoles in general, and Haitian Creole in particular, often seems to be French spelled phonetically.

Yes -- creoles do tend to use a much more phonetic spelling than the languages that influenced it.

Very interesting! I think I may have to link to this too.
