Thank you for that smile, lady!

About a week ago, as I was going home from work, a girl sat down opposite me in the bus.

She was kind of cute, so when she happened to look up, I smiled at her—and she instantly flashed a big smile in return! That was unexpected, since it doesn't happen often, but made me all happy inside. I hope I made her day a bit happier as well.

I love it when that happens! I've started smiling at people on the street...it's so rewarding when they smile back :D

Back when I was a student in Germany and not in any mood to flaunt my Americanness, I was advised that Germans could always spot the Americans on public transit, since they were the only ones smiling.
