(Is that like "slashdotted", where a site goes over its bandwidth limit or the server can't keep up with the load of many visitors in a short period of time? Or something else?)

It's a small world after all...

I had heard of him through his involvement with Netscape, and had read quite a few of his gruntles.

When I found out he had a LiveJournal, I friended it like a good fanboy. I had known that he owned the DNA Lounge, but didn't read much about that bit.

I didn't know that it had an associated IRC channel, though, nor what kind of traffic goes on in it. A hangout for geeks, then?

Yes, much geekery.

There are a few kiosks at the club where you can sign onto IRC and it dumps them into the channel.. those people are invariably drunk though.

And jwz hasn't been in #dna in years, I hear, some argument or something and he's never been back.
